I think this is a good time to look at the character that might be this year's break out role for an actor in any kind of television show. Of course I'm talking about John Noble, who plays Dr. Walter Bishop on Fringe. On the show, he's Pacey's dad!
You may not have seen his earlier work in The Nostradamus Kid (1993) where he played General Booth (and neither have I) but he does have an interesting background. He played Denethor in a few of the Lord of the Rings movies. He was a regular on 24 and a few other series. He was on Italian TV! He's Australian! He was a regular on an Aussie soap! This is the kind of solid actor we need in our TV shows. Between this guy and the guy that plays House, Australia is making a great showing on US television.

well, i just tried to comment on this and it never showed up which pisses me off to no end. i'll sum up - i've never seen john noble in a single show up until FRINGE. i like him. i have my doubts about his depth, but that is due in large part to never seeing his other work - who the hell watches australian tv? - but the casting people did a great job in picking someone who could play the fresh out of an insane asylum brilliant scientist role dead on. he is great and as my fabulous brother points out again and again, they give him the best lines, :-)
also, i am so thrilled that pacey whitter has a permanent spot on our blogspace. you know i was so happy at the end of that really really long journey when tney did the series finale flash forward and joey had picked pacey and not that ridiculous dawson. who ever liked james van der beek anyway?
just wanted to announce the good news: Fringe is in the mainstream as FOX picked up nine additional episodes of the thriller, taking the series to a full season order. Thus far, Fringe has won in its weekly Tuesday 9p time slot as evidenced by results on September 30 among A18-49 viewers at 4.3/11 and drawing in 10.0 million total viewers. The series is produced by Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
