I like this show. I like that there are characters this age NOT in NYC or LA in a show.
I also think that the college chick that is his potential love interest is a hottie. I hope this one makes it.
Regarding Raines, I watched approximately 40 seconds and I hated it. I could be wrong but Jeff Goldblum is too smug.

I'll have comments on October Road later once I've found time to watch it.
Regarding Raines, I actually hated it (but of course will continue to watch it as part of my commitment to watch every show the core four put on in prime time.)
Goldblum has very limited range. I will give him credit for being credible when he tried to be a tough guy while interrogating witnesses or suspects. He pulled that off. For me the issue is that I prefer the supernatural approach that Medium (or as Patty has named it in honor of the plus sized Patricia Arquette - Large) takes. I am not so enthralled with the idea that there could be a murder police out there (note my use of the vernacular from The Wire) who is hallucinating so vividly.
Beyond my failure to really like a major component of the premise. I didn't think that the supporting cast brought much to the table.
Overall, it was kind of a strange vehicle to attract a movie star to the small screen. I guest Goldblum is pretty much a B-List guy at this point anyway. At least he didn't stoop to the feral porcine depths of hell like William H. Macy. So, he's got that going for him, which is nice.
